London awakens to new life

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 29.04.2021

Boris Johnson's Corona Exit Plan is underway. There are regular relaxations of the measures and vaccinations are also progressing. This allows you to meet friends again or do activities and sports. The shops are all open again and restaurants and pubs have reopened their outdoor areas.

So last weekend I finally went bouldering again. The climbing halls have been open here since 12th April. After a half-year break from climbing, I felt like I was starting from scratch again. But I had a great time and I will definitely do it more often in the future. I'm planning on trying out different halls. This hall is located in the Earsfield district, which is near Wimbledon.

Afterwards, I used this opportunity to explore a bit. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the famous tennis fields, but I wrote it down on my 'London discovery list'.

The picture shows the 'New Wimbledon Theatre'. The theater was opened in 1910. Here you can see musicals, plays, ballets, and much more.

On Sunday, I met up with an acquaintance for lunch. 'Sunday Roast' is a traditional English dish. Traditionally, it is eaten in the early afternoon. A side dish is the typical Yorkshire puddings for Great Britain. These are small pieces of dough that are made in highly heated muffin tins or a pan. I had roasted potatoes, parsnips, and carrots with mine. Normally, a 'Sunday Roast' includes braised or roasted meat. Here I had a vegetarian variation with a puff pastry filled with spinach and pumpkin. It tasted really good and everyone should try a 'Sunday Roast' in Great Britain.
