After our trip to Hopetoun and my great weekend in the city, my third week in Australia followed, which we spent relaxed with some time at home and small trips within Ballarat > Family Time :)
Of course, this week wasn't always spent together with all family members, as Jenna and Scott also had to work ;) But during this time, the kids started to get used to me and especially the oldest one often asked me for help or wanted to play with me, which made me very happy! Even Georgie, the family cat, now comes with me almost every evening to my room (when I'm not in the living room watching movies with Jenna and Scott) and wants to be petted :) In general, my room is actually the 'place to be' for the kids, because when I leave my door open, I find at least one of them on my bed or at my drawers, which are perfect for unpacking and organizing!
The days were beautifully sunny and often, after Freyja's first morning nap, I could take the kids to the big lake. We had long walks (of course with a stroller and carrier) and delicious picnics at the big adventure playgrounds that can be found there! Harry was again fascinated by the numerous swans and their babies, which you can see everywhere there, as he loves animals and can remember more animal names than I can :)
On Wednesdays, Jenna, the kids, and I went on a tour to the Melbourne Zoo, for which I now have an annual pass! We met a friend and her two kids there, who are almost the same age as Harry and Freyja. The kids especially had a lot of fun finding and observing the animals, and we tried to keep up with them for two hours (plus double stroller, food, etc.) :)! I also visited the Melbourne Museum, for which I have free admission as I am still considered a student! The museum is really well-designed, for example, it includes a forest section where you can observe various animals and PharLap, the best Australian horse that ever lived (biggest victory: Melbourne Cup) and whose heart was twice as heavy as a normal horse's heart.
