TAG 19: She's got two Tickets to Paradise

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 21.07.2016

18.07.2016

Arriving in Kuala Lumpur, we feel like in a different world - on the one hand, because this Asian metropolis has so much to offer already at the airport, which we haven't seen in ages, on the other hand, I feel like I'm in a different sphere because of my delirium.

We barely catch our connecting flight, which is like heaven and hell compared to the previous one. Unfortunately, we can only stay here for 45 minutes. Nevertheless, we get water, the plane is almost empty, and I find it difficult to decide whether to watch the sunrise above the clouds or my flat screen (on this occasion, I discover the reason why we humans have two eyes - both are possible!)

At the airport in Kota Bharu, we share a taxi with two British women. I sit in the front and listen to the chatter between Gudi and the European islanders, which sounds to me like a tea party between the Queen and two of her cousins. It can hardly get more British and royal, but amazingly enough, Gudi sounds almost exactly like the original Brexit victims. Amused by so much constitutional-monarchic babble, I fall into a short but deep sleep.

A speedboat, which unfortunately is too expensive, takes us to the island where we want to recharge and enjoy ourselves for 3 nights. That's Gudi's plan, which she gave me as a birthday present. When we arrive, my subconscious decides that there really can't be any time for being sick. Boom, the dream beach with crystal clear, sky blue water is probably only topped by our room - a clean, air-conditioned bungalow.

After a short exploration trip and an improvised breakfast, I am fortunately intelligent enough to take a nap. This, and the amounts of Parkemed and Aspirin that I consume, actually help and we can spend a relaxed evening.

We decide to buy ourselves in at the dinner buffet and eat as much as we can. As all the other island vacationers are apparently too lazy to make the way from the buffet to the beach terrace (which is almost 10 meters), we enjoy a wonderful, almost candlelight-like evening there. After enjoying the prawns in coconut milk, I am simply happy and content. Soon we fall into bed. The fact that we both have to fall asleep on our backs, because of the amounts we have consumed before[1], does not need to be emphasized anymore.

[1] I out of hunger, Gudi probably out of sheer stinginess and the hamster-like hope of being able to store as much "already paid for buffet-style food" as possible.
