Today we are in Kusadasi, Turkey.
After a delicious healthy breakfast, feeling refreshed, we got ready to go ashore. Today is a cozy shopping day on the agenda, as I love that in Turkey. The bazaars with their countless clothes, teas, spices, and more.
But first, we visited the small island nearby with Kusadasi Castle. We walked about 20 minutes to get there. Along the way, we saw sea urchins, little cute kittens everywhere, and on the island, a man with his parrot. You could take photos with the macaw (if that's what you enjoy), but we didn't do that.
Once at the castle, we enjoyed the wonderful view and then made our way back towards the city center to the big bazaar. We shopped extensively there and then headed back to the ship around noon. The bags were full, and the wallet was empty.
At the entrance and exit of the harbor, you have to walk through a passage where there are many small stalls and shops on the right and left. As we walked through, a biting smell of something burnt filled our noses, which was very unpleasant, forcing us to cover our mouths and noses. Then we saw a large black cloud of smoke coming out of a shop. Shortly after, we also heard sirens and saw the fire department arrive. Apparently, one of the shops in the alley was on fire.
Back on the ship, we had lunch and then settled down comfortably on the pool deck in the afternoon to enjoy the weather.
In the evening, I just put together a delicious salad. The program today features ABBA - but with Ouzo! It was very nicely done, and afterward, there was a 90s party. The atmosphere on the pool deck was amazing, and we danced until 12:30 AM. Our son also enjoyed it, as he was allowed to stay in the teen lounge until 1 AM as an exception.
