Today Tommy and I went to the stadium for Bahia's last home game and the chance to get promoted. Shortly after we came back from our beach trip yesterday, we headed to the stadium. We rode our bikes towards the subway and took it one stop further to the stadium. There was already a lot of activity there.
Many Bahia fans were already there to celebrate their team before the kickoff. There was a lot of drinking, eating, and people equipping themselves with the latest fan articles. Every now and then, fan chants were started or fireworks were lit. Shortly after, the game started and it was accompanied by chants, drums, and shouts from start to finish.
Throughout the whole game, there was tension because not only Bahia's victory was crucial, but also how the other teams, which were close to the promotion spots, were playing. Finally, it happened: Bahia took the lead, but it didn't last long, so it was 2-2 shortly before the end. Just before the final whistle, a miracle happened and Bahia scored the winning goal, making it 3-2. After the game, it was decided: Bahia will be promoted next season. The Bahia fans celebrated in front of the stadium until probably the early morning hours. However, we made our way home after the game because it was already very late and we didn't want any problems on the way.
