The flight was great, with Air New Zealand. But what a culture shock! At customs, I had to declare my hiking shoes with a special treatment and a separate entrance. It must have been because of the chicken poop from the roaming chickens. Anyway, I was allowed to take the shoes with me after inspection. I took the Sky Bus towards Downtown and easily found the hotel. I had to take a warm shower because I was cold. There was about a 15° temperature difference. The hotel had a restaurant on the 13th floor and you could enjoy the view of the harbor.
For once, I booked breakfast at the hotel, so I didn't have to look for something to eat and a coffee. An hour later, I was on the streets of Auckland and in the midst of the many people who had to go to work. What a stress... I walked towards the Vineyard at the harbor, a new neighborhood that has a lot of restaurants. But it wasn't very busy, so I headed towards the City Tower. The weather was a bit unstable, sometimes rain, then very hot once the sun came out. I wanted to see a lot of Auckland, so I went on a hop on hop off tour. I got off at the Auckland Museum and took a tour of the interesting exhibits. I participated in a Maori dance and singing event and it was a lot of fun. Of course, there was also the famous Haka dance, they really gave it their all to look intimidating. The performers were very carefree and natural. I finished the bus tour and went back to the hotel. I wanted to finish writing the blog. I had a delicious meal at the restaurant and prepared for the next day of the trip.
