Visit to the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi.

03.11.2018:

I was looking forward to breakfast. Finally, a buffet. Well, just toast again. And margarine. And strawberry jam. And coffee or tea. With a bit of luck, some fruit too. It's the same in every hostel. Every time. It's probably not worth always bringing breakfast. It drives you crazy with the monotony.

Using the internet, I roughly planned my remaining route in Thailand. Today, I wanted to visit the Tiger Temple in Krabi. Since it is only 14 km each way, I wanted to reach it by bike. However, there was no rental place in sight. So in the end, I took a shared taxi. Negotiating skills are required for that, though. At least I was able to easily reduce the price by two-thirds.

Before the visit, there was lunch. In a small self-service Thai restaurant, I had a very spicy curry.

Then, in the shared taxi, I talked to four Americans. I wanted to join their group. However, their pace on site was too fast for me. I wanted to leisurely explore everything. I first visited the 'Wonderland'. Then I took on the challenge of climbing the 1237 steps to reach the mountain top. The steps were mostly above average in height. Many people panting and sweating everywhere on the steps. Also, many Germans.

While looking for a way to get back to the city, I met the Americans again. We took a taxi back together. In the evening, we went to the night market. And I met the Americans again. One of them bought a pack of maggots, grasshoppers, and other insects and made everyone try them. Even strangers, and some actually tried them. I definitely cannot recommend maggots. They just taste mushy.

We separated again and I went to a restaurant. Then I had a craving for potatoes and there was actually a stand with potatoes and garlic butter, which was very popular. Right next to it was a stand with sandwiches with rainbow cheese. Pretty cool.

Then I bought a new cap from Tommy Hilfiger for €2.80 and a waterproof beach bag for valuables. At the hostel, I chatted a bit with a Colombian girl. She had also bought something from the unique potato stand on the same evening.
