Day 9 & 10 - Knysna / Hermanus
Yesterday we unfortunately didn't have any pictures to upload as we spent the last day and evening in our house. It started raining during the night and continued non-stop when we woke up this morning. We discovered that our roof is not waterproof. Consequently, we found a huge puddle in the entrance area. Since this fortunately wasn't our problem, we simply packed our things and left for Hermanus at 8:30. It rained continuously throughout the 400km journey.
At times it was drizzling, at times it was pouring down, sometimes the rain was coming sideways, and occasionally the roads were flooded. Nevertheless, we reached our destination shortly after 2 p.m. The house is located right on the coast of Hermanus. We are staying in a room in a huge villa where the landlady Karin lives with her three dogs Kaizer, Titan, and Daisy. Karin is a very kind host and we immediately felt welcome. Corina already made friends with the dogs after 2 minutes. When we deposited our stuff in the room, we went for a walk to the cliffs. The wave-battered cliffs and the view of the sea were indescribably beautiful. There were thousands of seashells and we even saw so-called rock dancers (huge seabirds).
Afterwards, we treated ourselves to a coffee and a gigantic cheesecake at a restaurant before going back to the home base. In the evening, Karin reserved a table for us at a restaurant called Chard's. The food was absolutely fantastic. They served an amazing beef fillet with vegetables and mac & cheese. Back at the house, we had some fun conversations with Karin and her friend Ous.
Hermanus is a beautiful place. Tomorrow we're going on a whale watching tour :-)
