Our days start with intense learning sessions and end with them as well. Our learning principle is as follows: We learn something, then try it out, realize that it doesn't work quite as well as we thought, and then continue learning eagerly out of frustration. At least we already know many basics pretty well: ordering in a restaurant, almost all numbers, conjugating a few of the most important verbs, very basic small talk, a tiny bit of understanding something secretly, 'I am a vegetarian.' (it is true for one of us, and for the other, it's a good tactic to get rid of street vendors with meat), and most importantly: 'That's awesome!'. And the best part: The hostel staff has a great time watching how motivated we are trying to follow their advice from the first day ('You better learn Spanish!').
