Taytay and El Nido

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 01.07.2023

Today we borrowed a car from Roberto and went on a day trip. Our first destination was Taytay. Here we visited the fortress. The fortress was built by the Spaniards and served as a protection for the former capital for a long time. It also protected the island of Palawan from pirates from China and Brunei. The built chapel formed the starting point of the Christian faith on the island.

Our next destination was El Nido. Unfortunately, it started raining heavily on the way to the city. It rained so much and strong that some streets were about 30 cm under water. This thwarted our plans. We actually wanted to 'float' to an island over the sea using a zip-line and explore El Nido. Instead, we drove through El Nido once by car and then drove back. The little we could see of El Nido was enough for us. We are glad that we changed our plans and stayed with Roberto instead of spending several days in El Nido.

On the way back, we stopped at 'Schnitzel Peter' in Taytay to have 'lunch'. Due to the weather, it was more like 'afternoon meal' since it was already 4 pm. The waitress told us that one schnitzel is enough for two people - so we ordered one schnitzel. When the food arrived, we were all shocked. Why? Take a look at the picture 😂. To make matters worse, we also scratched the car while driving up the steep driveway.

After this disappointing day, we were very pleased that Roberto's girls make such good cocktails...
