Route: Bruges - Ghent
Kilometers traveled: 48
Weather: sunny and warm
Although only a few kilometers are planned for today, the day starts earlier because we all want to get out of the hot, stuffy, small room in Bruges. So we leave the beautiful city and drive through pretty smaller towns first. Then we follow a canal for many kilometers, where we take our breakfast break at a bench with many wasps.
Many more kilometers along the canal and just as we decided to take a nap due to general tiredness, we find an open zomerbar, a garden with self-built seating - the perfect place for cool drinks in this heat and a nap.
From here it is not far to our destination: Ghent. We had heard little about this city before, but after a short drive through to find our accommodation (not so easy), we are impressed. In the evening, we stroll through the city again, take an ice cream break in the main square and listen to the street musician, cross all the bridges, and dip our feet in the water in front of the water castle.
In the evening, we cook wraps in the very spacious accommodation and end the evening with wine, a music guessing game, a pillow fight, and playing foosball on the rooftop terrace.
