Day 5 (Lille-London)

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 30.07.2022

After a nice French breakfast, we had over 10 hours to kill until the evening.

After stocking up at the supermarket with some supplies, we went to the park where we sat and read for a long time. After a while in the park, a man came and sat on a nearby bench and started playing the flute incredibly beautifully. After spending a few hours in the park, accompanied by the beautiful flute playing of the stranger, we went to the market where Colin watched a game of chess with great interest.

Our train to London was so late that we only arrived at 10 o'clock in London. Arriving in London, we went to the address of our hostel. Or so we thought. It turned out that there were two "London roads" in London, one in the city center and one in the outskirts. Of course, we had to go to the one outside, but we only found out when we were at the wrong one. And so our tour began, over an hour long, at midnight, with backpacks weighing over 20 kilos and completely exhausted and tired. The three quarters of an hour on the train were terrible, as it was bursting at the seams, and then we still had to walk roughly 20 minutes with our backpacks to the accommodation. With doom music in my ears, I somehow managed, but how Colin managed it is still a mystery to me. To top it all off, the accommodation was also terrible.
