Day 3: Kiel - Flensburg

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 29.08.2024

One last time Moin everyone,

from tomorrow probably in English, we'll see..

The best thing happened the night before, since I wanted to test Komoot. The problem was: 'Forgot password' and no confirmation possible. So, I am stuck at the G-point. So Geovelo or Google Maps 🫣

Breakfast was then exceptionally at the hotel, which is usually a disadvantage. Because exercising with a full stomach is ultimately torture..

Tour description: Windy, hot, and hilly.

According to the weather report, it should not exceed 24 degrees at least until the end, which is comfort zone for me.

However, the headwind hit me again. What many don't know: carrying nearly 30 kilos of luggage can make climbing a hill particularly arduous without prior mountain training.

And when you have to take a detour of over 10 km due to a bridge closure, it's quite annoying.

The fact that this was only signposted 1 km before the bridge is probably a German phenomenon. I hope it’s better in Denmark. I may not be able to read the sign, but the thought is important.

At least it was quieter and thus better cycling conditions.

Flensburg has relatively few highlights among the three northern German cities. However, I can particularly mention the red street here, which should not be confused with the red-light district. I may have gotten some radiation here, as I’ve been dotted red on the torso since then. Maybe I’ve already adapted color-wise to Denmark.

So my tip: Eckernförde.

Tomorrow the official start of the Denmark trip!
