Heritage Day

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 29.09.2023

September 24, 2023

Our tour guide really has a knack for the weather. While rain storms hit Kapstadt again at night, we were able to take our city tour on foot in the sunshine. Through the Botanical Garden, at the government building to Madeba's balcony statue, where he repeatedly spoke to his people, back to the Natural History Museum. Afterwards we drove to Bookap, the colorful district. As soon as we got on the bus it started pouring rain. We spent the rest of the day in the huge shopping mall on the waterfront, which had a lot going on today.

Today was Heritage Day, a holiday celebrating where you come from and where you come from. So there were people everywhere in their original robes. Beautiful, colorful robes, facial tattoos and lavish jewelry that the women wore with pride.

In the evening, the entire tour group went out for a traditional and authentic African meal, accompanied by great live music.
