Trip to the birthplace of Nackenheim

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 21.07.2024

Where Carl Zuckmeyer was born. Nackenheim, a little pearl on the banks of the Rhine. We grew up there as children and Nackenheim is not only a picturesque place, it was also a gigantic adventure playground for us children. Whether on the Rhine or in the bird sanctuary there or in the vineyards, there was always a lot to discover and many little adventures to experience. Nackenheim is also lucky to have two islands in the river. We always took the ferry there in the summer and spent lovely hours on the beach. Later we also camped. We also learned to swim in the Rhine. Nackenheim became known beyond the country's borders as 'The Happy Vineyard', a well-known play by Nackenheim's Carl Zuckmeyer! Above everything, on a hill, towers the centuries-old, beautiful St. Gereon Church. And a small mountain chapel in the wine hills!
