4 months fly by

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 24.10.2022

Now the time has come. After 4 exciting months, we are sitting at the airport in Vancouver, waiting to board the plane. The last flight back to Germany is ahead. We don't really know how we feel. On one hand, we are incredibly excited to go home, to be with our family and friends. No longer living out of a backpack, having a routine, and being in a familiar environment. Leonie has even looked through the current flyers, so she can go shopping as soon as we arrive. But on the other hand, we are also sad. The anticipation was huge and the preparations for the trip were long. We had this dream and worked hard to make it come true. Despite Corona and other circumstances. And after what feels like the snap of a finger, we are already sitting back on the plane heading home. It's over, just like that. But if you think about it, we probably had the best four months of our lives so far. We were able to travel countries completely carefree, make experiences, and get to know different cultures. We once again realized how privileged we are in Germany. We don't have to worry about feeding our family or finding a place to sleep. We can afford to just get on a plane and see other countries. One of our tour guides once told us, "I work 16 hours a day for 3 years so that I can visit Europe once". We could earn a short vacation pretty quickly and wouldn't have to work so hard. After the four months, we are very grateful that we were able to make these experiences. We have grown - individually but also as a couple, we have expanded our horizons once again, and we appreciate even more what we have at home. We are infinitely grateful for this journey, the memories of which no one can take from us, and which we will remember for the rest of our lives. Grateful for the privilege and the luck we had. Grateful for countless beautiful moments, for the hospitality in these five countries, and grateful for so many amazing people we had the pleasure of meeting. However, our wanderlust is not diminished. The bucket list has actually grown, and that's why we are also looking forward to the next adventures. Where are we going next? We don't know. What's on the list? Finally, Asia with Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, and we definitely want to see the wild animals in South Africa. Let's see when we can start again. But one thing we do know is that such a long and carefree period of travel will not be possible for the time being. Thank you for following our blog and our journey! Please feel free to reach out to us if you need any tips for the described destinations.
