The crash

At 10:00 we leave Sesriem and head towards Swakopmund - 347 km of gravel road lie ahead of us. We drive through magnificent landscapes that leave us speechless in their dimension time and again. Between mountainous landscapes, narrow gorges, vast highlands and desert, underground rivers, and lots of dust, the temperature climbs up to 32°C. Shortly before Swakopmund, however, there is a temperature drop, and when we arrive there is sea fog and 11°C. Thanks to the navigation system, we find our way to the Old Bridge, our accommodation for the next 2 days. In the evening, we head to a Hanseatic-style sports bar, where we watch rugby (RSA - FIJ) with many German-speaking locals until just before 9:00 PM. Right on time for the German national anthem, the broadcast switches to soccer, so we don't miss the Euro Cup - Round of 16.
