After a starry night, a cool morning awaited us. The sun reached the first mountain peaks, and it wasn't until half past nine that the sun reached the valley where we were. Although we liked it very much in Posada, our journey continued towards A Coruna. After the first mountain pass, we soon caught sight of the reservoir at Riano, which calls itself the fjord of Spain. It looks quite nice, but it can't be compared to the "real" fjords in Norway in the slightest.
Soon we were climbing again until we reached Puerto de Tarna, which also marks the border with Asturias. This was followed by a steep descent on a narrow road, with a tunnel that looked more like a simple hole through the rock. Fortunately, there was very little traffic, so we could enjoy the impressive landscape and canyons.
In the small town of Bezanos, we stretched our legs and treated ourselves to a coffee con leche in the village square. Once again, it was a place where you can just sit and watch. I always particularly like these small mountain villages, and we briefly considered (or at least I did) not going all the way to the sea and spending another night on a farm.
In the end, we continued our journey. After the days in the mountains, it always takes a little getting used to being on the highways. Since today I now know what "loud" asphalt is. It sounded like I was driving a 40-ton truck and being overtaken by 7.5-ton trucks. It's impossible to have a conversation.
During the drive, Della found a free parking space at the port of Puerta de Vega, which we promptly headed towards. The way there was a bit challenging, the signage was very sparse, and Google Maps led us through a traffic ban and a really tight turn. But we arrived in one piece and enjoyed the wonderful view of the sea, the wind, and the walk through this lovely place.
We were amazed by the theater and casino in the village. The explanation for this was provided on an explanatory panel in the village: In the 19th century, there was a wave of emigration to America, but some residents returned. They built houses in an American-influenced architectural style, including the theater and casino.
The evening at the port was simply magnificent, a finest sunset!
