Ottawa, the capital of Canada

Today was all about Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Ottawa has a population of approximately 900,000, making it the sixth largest city in Canada, far behind Toronto and Vancouver. After breakfast, I made my way to Parliament Hill, the seat of Parliament. An interesting fact is that Ottawa is separated by a river. One side of the river is in the French-speaking province of Quebec, while the other side is in the English-speaking province of Ontario. Therefore, in Quebec, the road signs and store signs are in French. My accommodation is located in this part of the city. The government district is located in Ontario, so this morning I had to cross the river. The impressive pedestrian bridge can be seen in my pictures. The Parliament is located on a hill and towers over the city. I skipped a tour of the interior, as I would have had to sign up for a guided tour and I didn't feel like it. After visiting Parliament Hill, I continued to downtown and then to the Byward Market. There is a very old market hall and farmers sell their fresh products from the countryside around it. Unfortunately, the weather ruined it for me here and the surroundings of the Byward Market were deserted, no farmers and nothing else. In general, Ottawa felt very dreary to me, which was surely partly due to the weather. In the afternoon, I retreated to my apartment, which is unlike Ottawa, very beautiful and warm, and read a bit and planned the rest of the trip.
