Stralsund 2nd day

Oñemoherakuãva: 08.09.2023

we=128:2-on the way (actually 129)

So today Stralsund and nothing else. After the very good breakfast (that was really great) we should set off straight away - into the city. Not far from the hotel there was the bus stop for line 4 and that would take us to the old town. Several hotel guests with large luggage were already waiting with us. The bus took us all. We only drove 4 stops and then trusted the map that led us in the right direction.

However, I preferred to walk along the water; past a school (HANSA-GYMNASIUM) with a sea view. It was recess and lots of young people had the same plan. It was lovely to stroll along the sound.

A small harbor where the WHITE FLOTTE is also located, with whom we also want to go on a harbor tour. Still too early to buy tickets. So we walked around a construction site and ordered a coffee/espresso at CAFÉ GUMPFER and enjoyed it with a view of the boats and water. Even at this early hour we headed for a place in the shade. The selection of cakes there was gigantic. But honestly: who can enjoy cake at 9:30 a.m.? We are not.

So then to the weekly market on the Neuer Markt square. We walked there through beautiful little streets with even more beautiful houses. The ST. We would have liked to take a look at NIKOLAIKIRCHE from the inside - unfortunately it was closed. The TOWN HALL next door was worth seeing and surprising. The whole old town is worth seeing, and one day is not enough to see everything beautiful.

On the way back to the hotel we enjoyed a herring roll and lots of water at FREE WILLY on the ferry canal. Since there was still enough sunscreen on me, we walked the few kilometers back along the sound. That's how we found the STRANDBAD with lots of space on the sand and a very shallow entrance into the sound. Then the SUNDPROMENADE led past some rather dilapidated large buildings - I was very sorry about these houses. A woman from Stralsund explained when asked that it was the former nurses' homes. These belonged to the clinic at that time, which unfortunately no longer existed. But a little further along the first of these houses would be renovated. Among other things, apartments for the elderly are planned. We should keep an eye on it. Then it wasn't far to the Hotel RÜGENBLICK and we could rest a bit - until dinner. Let's see where we're going - or driving - today; the bus stop is not far away and the car is safe here in the parking lot.

We then had dinner at the VENTSPILS directly on the Sundpromenade. It was also very tasty, even if there was no fish.

See you soon
