Central Park 'Walk'

Day 19

So far the day with the longest 'walk', 12.8km in 3h.🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍➡️

Marten wanted to walk the Central Park lengthwise and back. We went north along the west side and then back through the park.

A nice plan for a Sunday. There was so much to see, this is where the New Yorkers go on Sundays. People host parties with beautifully decorated tables and festive clothes, music is played at every corner, and there are sports activities everywhere.

Watch out for the joggers and cyclists 🤣 they might run or ride you over 🏃‍♀️‍➡️🏃‍➡️

The many outdoor yogis are not as dangerous by far 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️🧘

There are baseball fields, volleyball and beach volleyball courts, and of course the famous Pickleball 🤣🤣🤣 never heard of it before? It's okay, I heard of it just 2 weeks ago. The court looks like a tennis court, but smaller. The paddle is like the one you use at the beach, but rectangular, to look cooler, and the ball is a harder rubber ball, similar to the one at the beach, just slightly larger.

Then there are about 100 rickshaws with blaring music driving around and all the carriages, all hitched up.

Life is bustling in Central Park, that's for sure!

In the late afternoon, we also walked through Times Square. Life was bustling there too, a bit too much. Very loud, hot, and unbelievably many smells, especially from all the food trucks with their engines running 🫢😬

Conclusion, Central Park on a sunny Sunday is great, better to avoid Times Square 😆
