Motorhome tour 2014: Strasbourg/Colmar

We - my two younger brothers, my parents and I set off from home in a rented motorhome towards Baden-Wüttemberg. We reached Strasbourg around 2:00 p.m. without any major breaks (only a BurgerKing break at a rest area was possible). After we had parked our motorhome outside and I was able to speak French for the first time on this holiday, we tried - initially unsuccessfully - to ride our bikes into the city center. Only when we found the Rhine did it work. Dad, Michi and I then ate the most expensive ice cream scoop of our lives: €2.30 for a scoop. But they also spoke German.

Then we looked at the city: many small streets with half-timbered houses and floral decorations. It was really really sweet. We also found a huge, early Gothic (I think) cathedral. With flowers in front of it. When we cycled back to the motorhome there was also a mini lock with a cool, rotating bridge in front of it. We continued with a short stop at the European Parliament and finally parked at a campsite in Colmar, where we cooked and ate in the motorhome for the first time - pretty tight - and played sheep's head.

The next day we showered at the campsite and had breakfast in the motorhome for the first time. After breakfast we rode our bikes to Colmar. The city is similar to Strasbourg, but smaller. They actually have 3 big cathedrals... Dömer... Dome??? Churches. In one of them there is a well-known Iseinheim altar, but you would have had to pay an entrance fee for it. At lunchtime, Mom, Dad and I ate tarte flambée in a small restaurant. My brothers only wanted rolls from a boulangerie. Then we cycled back to the motorhome.

In the early afternoon we drove further south. I slept at first, but after a quick stop in a small village where Mom and I looked for bushes, I sat in the front. The landscape was amazing! We drove along a river called Doubs. In the evening we sang. So dad played the guitar and I sang. Mom too, but always too deep...
