Day 14-17 Bye Bye Haad Yao

Foillsichte: 07.02.2020

The past few days have been quite calm. On Wednesday, a techno party took place at one of the resorts near us. There were a lot of people, the beach was suddenly crowded, and you could already hear the bass and the thumping from 6 p.m., as soon as the sun disappeared. After knowing that Angie and Markus had also celebrated a little with their little one there 2 years ago, I was really looking forward to it because I haven't been dancing or going out in the evening since Samuel was born. It was a really cool party with cool music. There were many families with children and there was also a small Goa market with many beautiful homemade things and a fire show. We weren't in the mood for taking photos that evening, so unfortunately there are no photos for you. Nevertheless, we only stayed for a short time, but Samuel definitely had fun. He was fascinated by the little Adriana, who danced and enjoyed the music at the age of 3, just like the adults and her cool mom:-)

Otherwise, not much happened in the past few days, a little playing on the beach, suddenly discovering a pig on the beach, eating delicious food and fruit shakes, and simply chilling and enjoying.

Today we said goodbye a little sadly because of our friends, and especially because the children had just gotten used to each other and to us in Haad Yao, and took a shared taxi to the other side to Thong Nai Pan Yai, where our accommodation for the next 6 nights was waiting. Actually, it should have been 7, but for some reason it's only 6. We are flexible because the last 3 nights are not booked yet, so we just have to book 4 more nights;-) The first surprising impression was the journey here. While the road on the other side is quite normal and unspectacular, the journey here was an adventure in itself. It went up and down hills from Haad Rin with inclines of up to 20 %. You even had to equalize the pressure in some places. As a scaredy-cat, I sat in the front with the driver and had to keep reassuring myself that Joe and our little one were still in the back on the loading ramp and hadn't fallen out-) Our little one was thrilled to sit in the back and enjoy the fresh air. He couldn't stop saying ohhhh, Joe told me after the 45-minute journey. The mopeds and the elephants and cows they saw delighted him. @Angie and Markus... I think it would be a world tour to ride here on a moped and visit us, but we are considering taking a boat trip, then we could meet up at Haad Khom

The accommodation itself was also a dream, quite compact, but that doesn't bother us, very well maintained, without jungle (because of the mosquitoes) and bright and friendly bungalows. A small pool, breakfast, and clean, everything we want. The beach itself seemed heavenly to us. The sun sets behind the mountains, which means that we have more shade in the afternoon compared to the other side of the island. Since Samuel sometimes sleeps until 11, and we are hardly ever on the beach before 12 or 1 p.m., we prefer it this way. So you are relieved of our many sunset photos, we will probably never manage to see the sunrise;-)

There is a large sandbank at our beach section, which is also great for Samuel, and the water slopes gently for a long way. We saw huge crabs and small crabs, and the landscape in the bay and on the other side is more rocky with huge rocks and simply beautiful. We also immediately met the couple we had met on Koh Samui and got some tips.

In the evening, we wanted to go to the village for dinner and to buy water, etc., but we didn't make it there. The restaurant we had to pass by had a small two-wheeler and motorcycle, and Joe and our little one were immediately captivated. We ate there and it was delicious, although it was very spicy for me.

Oh yeah, since I have been asked several times... my glasses are not a new fashion, for those who noticed. Samuel actually broke one of the arms off spontaneously and unplanned on the first day in Bangkok, as we are. So there was only one left;-) Some mishaps also happened: our mobile phone was actually stolen, we don't really know when, where, or how, we would never lose it;-) It was only the second phone that had the brand new Thai SIM card in it for the internet. I can confirm now that you can get by without it because every restaurant and resort has wifi. And my shoes simply fell apart due to the heat, I bought new flip-flops today, which are plentiful here, but now I already have a huge blister, so I will probably explore Thailand barefoot from now on:-)

Well, then we are curious how we will like it here at the unpronounceable beach and wish you a great day.

Best regards Karin&Joe&Samuel
