Arrival
Believe it or not, there is a direct connection by airplane from Dortmund to Krakow:
You can take a train from Dortmund to Aplerbeck, and from there it is not far to the airport:
At first, I thought this was a case for the workshop..
..but then I just followed the people.
And it turned out to be a quite pleasant flight:
It was really quick, and suddenly you were in Upper Silesia..
Approach to 'Johannes Paul II' Airport in Balice:
Take the shuttle to Kraków Glówny (Main Station), then the tram to Kazimierz and then the first disappointment:
You are not allowed to play the trumpet in the tram!
Okay, I'm staying anyway. Unfortunately, I get off at the wrong stop and wander around a bit - as you can easily see:
Kazimierz
In Kazimierz (pronounced: Kasimjesch) I live in a former power plant:
I have a room with a view of the steam boiler..
..and a hairdresser in the machine hall
Now quickly go out and take a first stroll through Kazimierz:
There's a hip snack bar across the street. They not only have Zapiekanka (which we'll talk about later), but also vegan burgers and such..
Fortunately, everything here is not as artificially polished as in St. Peter-Ording ;-)
but very Jewish..
and totally hip..
Świętego Wawrzyńca
Well, I like it here. This is where I belong! But first, let's go back to my Świętego Wawrzyńca, my home for the next few days:
The street of St. Lawrence, the patron saint of brewers ;-)
