Discovering Landskrona (22.07.2018)

Publisearre: 22.07.2018

Today, my host family showed me their hometown. Both of them grew up in Landskrona.

So after breakfast, we drove about 40 minutes to Landskrona. Once we arrived, we walked along the waterfront towards the city's Citadel. It is one of the best-preserved in Scandinavia and the largest of its kind in terms of area. The castle was completed in 1560, although Landskrona was founded by King Eric of Pomerania in 1413.

So we visited the castle and then continued to the colonies that are located next to it. These are like our allotment gardens, except that there are strict regulations on how the garden and house should look like. One of the houses and gardens, which were established in 1903, has now been turned into a small museum. As a tourist, you can see what such a colony should look like. The house is very small and you can learn about the family that used to own it. In the accompanying garden, there are beautiful flowers to see and smell...

Then we continued through a park where there is a house with an art exhibition. There were, among other things, paintings by Nell Walden on display. You could also learn a lot about her life. Very nicely done and interesting.

After looking around the city a bit, we also visited the Sofia Albertina Church. Both of my host parents were confirmed in this church. The very bright interior of the church has a beautiful aura.

Finally, we took a walk along the seafront before heading back home.
