Monkey Island Beach, Orepuki
We wake up to bright sunshine and our first stop is the beach on an island that is only accessible at low tide. After that, we go for a swim in the sea and sit on the beach for breakfast. A friendly local approaches us and tells us that this beach is known for collecting Paua shells, which are considered a delicacy in New Zealand. So we walk along the rocks and collect some shells. We also find some already open and very large shells with a beautiful Paua pattern. Afterwards, we open the stubborn shells and try them. In the afternoon, we go to the beach with Zuhlo and make some practical improvements. We have often thought about making a bonfire and tonight is a great opportunity for that - of course we also have marshmallows with Nutella!
Our cozy beach bonfire continues with long conversations until after midnight.
