Finally, it's time to go!
On Saturday morning, there was a 'Goodbye Brunch' for my friends... In the meantime, we did some final preparations. Check-in, copies of the passport, printing the visa, etc.
In the evening, three hours by car. The last backpack check and dinner with his friends... So much stress, especially since Kay doesn't believe me that he has way too many clothes. A last weather check in Spain says 23-28 degrees. Phew, HOT! However, I don't have any shorts with me because all the blogs say it will be cold and wet from October onwards. We'll see...
At the check-in, my backpack weighs 8kg and Kay's weighs 10kg.
Upon arrival at the tiny airport in Leon, we are both very tired. We share a taxi to the city center with a business traveler and a pilgrim. We are very lucky because the gentleman pays for our taxi with the words: 'It's okay, my employer will pay for it.'
For us, it's a short walk to our hostel. On the way, we buy dinner and come across singing and dancing Spaniards. What a joy of life!
The first day. In the morning, it's still quite cool, but the thermometer at the pharmacy shows 31 degrees at 5:00 p.m. We spend the day sightseeing and enjoy a coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a small potato tortilla for an incredible 4.30 euros each.
But now it's off to bed. The big hike starts early tomorrow morning! Oh yes, I've decided to leave all my makeup at home, so don't be surprised if I look a bit... whatever. That's just how it is now.
