At the southwestern end of France

Publié: 27.09.2020

With a three-day stopover in the resort town of "Moliets-et-Maa", we are now in "Saint-Jean-de-Luz" (about 15 km from the Spanish border).

After hardly seeing any Germans (or foreign tourists in general) in the past few weeks, we saw and heard a lot of Germans in "Moliets-et-Maa". The resort is very popular with surfers, especially of a much younger age (than we are =;o) and has a beautiful sandy beach, lined with dunes 👍 Without a surfboard under your arm, you were clearly not cool there 😉 We liked the following variant the best: sitting on a bike, with a surfboard under your arm, bare-chested (meaning male), long hair, a hat on your head 🤣

However, in the water, you rarely saw anyone riding the waves. You only see heads in the water, swimming on the waves 🤔 It's much more fun to watch the kite surfers, but there are only a few of them here. Surfing is definitely the order of the day, even in the area around "Saint-Jean-de-Luz".

The first day in "Moliets-et-Maa" the weather was still so good that we could lie on the beach for two hours, where there was finally no dog ban 😎 We enjoyed that very much until the wind picked up and it became too sandy and cold for us.

Since the following day, the weather has unfortunately been very rainy, unsettled, and extremely stormy in the past few days 💨

Currently, we are staying at a campsite with a sea view, so we can watch the roaring sea from our rocking motorhome (and when visibility is clear, we can see all the way to Spain). The wind is howling and the rain is pouring ⛈

Every moment when the weather switched to dry, and this happens quite quickly here, we used it to explore the respective areas and take photos for you 😉

Today it was around 17 °C and windy, but at least dry and the sun was shining a lot, so we could explore Biarritz. We liked it very much and since the crowds of people have dispersed, we could also stroll through the town 😃

Biarritz, an elegant seaside resort on the Basque coast in southwestern France, gained fame when representatives of European nobility discovered the fishing village as a holiday destination in the 19th century. The landmark of Biarritz, the Rocher de la Vierge, is a rocky reef on which a statue of the Virgin Mary stands. The reef can be reached via a pedestrian bridge that offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Biscay (see photos).

Yesterday it rained almost continuously, with strong winds (we actually took out our winter hats 🤭), so we had to cut our trip short, which took us from the center of "Saint-Jean-de-Luz" to the Spanish border.

From all of this, we have put together a selection of photos for you 😄

Now, this evening, the stormy wind (and the rain) unfortunately returned 💨, so the satellite dish, as it has been for the past few days, has to stay down for the evening program 😉

As always, warm greetings to all of you 🤗 It's really great that you continue to follow us ❤
