Today the day starts very early for us, because the transfer to the port is already supposed to take place at 6:15 am, as the ferry to Praslin departs at 7:30 am. We booked it specifically so that we can make full use of the day on Mahe (from Praslin we will immediately fly to Mahe).
So we wait in front of the apartment at 6:15 am for the shuttle transfer - but in vain, because there were some communication discrepancies, the transport is supposed to take place at 6:50 am. But since we are already awake, we just walk the distance by foot. It's actually quite good despite the suitcases, luckily it's not too hot yet and the streets are empty.
At the port, we want to buy something for breakfast at the nearby bakery, which is supposed to open at 7:00 am, but as we know, the Seychellois are not very punctual. At 7:15 am we quickly go to the ferry with the bag from the bakery, here we are sent back to the ferry house, as the online tickets are not accepted, and so we are already sweating when we finally take the VIP seats on the ferry at 7:25 am.
But at least at the port of Praslin, the booked taxi is already waiting for us, for the ride to the airport on the other side of the island (since there is no direct ferry between La Digue and Mahe, we have decided to switch to the plane). When we arrive at the airport, we still have about 2 hours to bridge, which we do by visiting the two souvenir shops, a cafe, and writing blog posts.
The flight to Mahe is great again, and the 15 minutes in the air pass by way too quickly.
Upon arrival at Mahe, we have to wait for our rental car, which we actually booked for 11:00 am. As there is still no car for us at the airport at 12:00 pm, it turns out that the car rental agency is waiting for our arrival with a car on another island - which is inexplicable for us until today, because we definitely booked the car for Mahe. In addition, we don't have internet access at the airport to clarify the whole chaos, so in the end, we are just glad that another car rental company rents us their last available car, and we finally leave the airport behind. Our 'SUV' is already a bit older and has already driven 280,000 km, but it works perfectly and will always be our little hero...
Well, as they say, it can only get better, and that's exactly how it is when we finally arrive at our apartment. It is the same one that we booked for our first stay on Mahe and immediately we feel at home again.
After a delicious dinner, we just fall exhausted into bed and look forward to tomorrow!
