So the first few days have passed. Fortunately, I was able to quickly arrange a bank account, even though I had to drive to a branch that was half an hour away from the city (in the city, you can only get an appointment to open an account a month later). But I could get my card right away. My IRD has also been applied for. So I can actually start working. But before that, I still want to see a few things.
On Saturday, for example, we went to Muriwai Beach, which is a volcanic beach about an hour west of Auckland. Therefore, the sand was black or rather gray in this case. We drove there with 8 people in 2 cars. I only knew two of them from my hostel, but we all found each other through Couchsurfing. It was really nice, we could walk along the rocks and in my case, get hit by a wave so that my supposedly waterproof hiking shoes got completely wet on the inside. But it wasn't that bad, because you could also do everything barefoot. We then watched the sunset and drove back home since it was getting really cold.
On Saturday, it was also the first game of the All Blacks, the New Zealand rugby team, at the current World Cup in Japan. We then met up with the same group at the pub and watched as the All Blacks defeated South Africa - or in my case, slept during the game. In my opinion, rugby makes no sense at all, but maybe someday, if I watch it more often, it might. I think it's also shown on the screen at the hostel every day now.
