A city in conflict

We wanted to take a look at a Colombian metropolis, and since Cali still has a bad reputation, we drove to the legendary Medellín. Our speedy bus driver drove like lightning, so we arrived in Medellin not after 10 hours, but after 5 hours in the middle of the night. We recovered a bit in the hotel and then wanted to visit the Comuna, our receptionist looked at us questioningly, asking us what we wanted to see there and anyways we were too late, it wouldn't be safe there anymore. Hmh ok, we weren't aware of the dangerous hot spot, so let's go to Casa de la Memoria instead. A modern and somewhat artistically influenced history museum of Colombia's dark times and current pages. The center was bustling, everywhere you could buy anything, but we quickly realized that we stood out as tourists. At night, we wanted to go out, ate with the young Colombians at the snack bar, drank excellent cocktails, observed some beautiful Colombian women in their crazy high heels, almost went to a metal concert with locals, and eventually fell exhausted into the hotel bed. The next day, we took a city tour and got more impressions of Medellín, which didn't convince us. We think it's a good starting point, but we can't say for sure if we would travel there again.
