From Spachbrücken to Kiel

Publié: 25.09.2020

The last packages were packed and stored. Before we really start, we have to go to the registration office again. The third time to be exact. After the first two times were unsatisfactory because the papers and the vehicle were not fully presented to the officials, we now go with everything obligatory to Dieburg to finally get the desired registration for Beppo.

Thursday, September 17, 2020 is the day. The appointment at the registration office is at 09:30 am. We leave extra early to be on the safe side.

The appointment went well, so we can finally start at 10:00 am. We head straight for the B45 towards Fulda.

With a travel speed of 85 km/h, the destination for the day is Hannover. During the 7-hour drive on the motorway, Yasemin has found a nice place to stay overnight using the Park4Night app.

We are going to Altwarmbüchen. The sleeping place is only 2 minutes' walk from a lake, which is perfect for an evening walk.

Pasta with pesto and fried zucchini. That will be the first dinner and it turns out that the kitchen keeps its promises. Everything can be easily operated while sitting or standing. Switching between seating and sleeping arrangements also works quite well. It all takes time and occasionally we get in each other's way, but we are optimistic that we will develop automatisms over time and become a little faster. :)

The next morning we sleep in and have fried eggs with bread for breakfast.

The plan for September 18, 2020 is Kiel. But first, we have to fill up our water containers. When we set off, we were so euphoric that we completely forgot to fill up the water tanks.

Today we travel through the beautiful Lüneburg Heath off the motorway, through forests and hills, through small villages that are occasionally crossed by a small river.

Arriving at the fresh water station, we tap fresh water for a few cents and empty the wastewater tank. Then we head back onto the motorway, past Hamburg and towards the 'real' north of Schleswig-Holstein.

Arriving in Kiel, we find a stopover on a large square belonging to a sailing club. The club kindly provides this place for campers. About 45 minutes away from the city center, we set off towards the old town with the mission of finding 'Fischbrötchen'.

Between the harbor, villas, and student associations, the Kielerleben reflects a very magnificent and beautiful life for us. The sun contributes its share to this splendor. We are fine with that.

After two salmon sandwiches and a battered fish, we feel too heavy to walk the 45 minutes back to Beppo. We give in to laziness and rent two e-scooters. Since it's our first time cruising on these electrified city scooters and we have no feeling for the upcoming rental fee, we turn our backs on the scooters after a short time and let our feet carry us the rest of the way. On the way back, we pass large sailing ships that can also be rented for large groups and a beach bar that seems to be accessible only to club members.

Arriving at the car, we get ready for bed after the eventful day and peacefully glide into the night.

Tomorrow we're heading across the border to Denmark!
