When the tide suddenly turns....The first real 'encounter'

Publié: 28.05.2017

Friday 26.5. (30 km)

The Italian suggested that Porto Fino must be great but after hearing that it's the place of the beautiful and wealthy, we don't want to go there (it would have been 10 km in the wrong direction)

So, continuing towards La Spezia...

Immediately a climb of 10 km...

The info aunt suggested that it would soon go up to 800 m...

So, a day at the beach, finally swimming in the sea...yay

Then looking for a campsite...

Driving forever and found Camping Victoria - the guy wants 28 euros with discount!!!

He's crazy - so continue - we end up at a mega run-down place, thinking it is closed but then Maria (her real name is not Maria but she looks like one) comes and asks for 20 euros... After bargaining, we get it down to 15 (which is still too expensive). We buy beer in town and now we're sitting here and cooking delicious pasta....

Adios amigos - see/hear u soon

Saturday 27.5.

After a restless night

(in my opinion, a wild boar was close to our campsite and was grunting loudly-

Patrick thinks it was outside the fence-

which doesn't exist :))

we were invited for coffee by our Italian neighbors.

Patrick went for a walk last night while I was sleeping and made friends with the men and drank beer...

So, on to coffee...

Two of the men are originally from Tunisia, so they also speak French and invite us for lunch...Spaghetti with meat is on the menu...

Of course we say yes - and off we go...

While one of them starts preparing at 9:30, we have a beer first.

The cook used to be a fisherman and so Patrick shows pictures of the grilled sea bream...

Suddenly, prawns and another sea bream are taken out of the freezer and prepared...

We start the menu with a gin and tropical juice with a sugared rim around the glass and grilled eggplant. Then the prawns follow - the first time in my life! (Tastes great, texture is yucky).

To pass the time until the pasta is ready, we have bread, cheese, salami, and red wine.

Then a huge portion of spaghetti with 'roulade', and for digestion a homemade limoncello and for dessert cake. :)

Afterwards, we are offered fruits, but we are both so stuffed that we can't eat anymore...

The cook and former fisherman has stopped speaking French with me and only speaks Italian now...Patrick and I have no clue what he's saying anymore...

Sometimes I don't even know what language he's speaking but somehow we manage with gestures and broken Italian...

We say goodbye after being invited for soup for dinner and return to our tent full and slightly drunk at 2 pm to take a siesta...

In the evening, we have a potato and zucchini noodle soup with tomato salad...

We also make the sea bream - my second encounter with fish today...

And as if that's not enough, the neighbor brings anchovies and I have to try them too...

Enough for today - what an exciting day...And so much delicious authentic Italian food!!
