That's how the day can start. The 'stupid' alarm clock rang at 04.00am / 04.00 o'clock at night. Usually we would turn around and sleep peacefully. Not today. We had big plans!
At 04.30am our personal TukTuk driver was waiting for us and came around the corner with a 'How are you?'. A nice 'Don't ask - it's too early' was the answer. We understood each other, because it was still night for him. After a chilly ride, we arrived at the sought-after temple - ANGKOR WAT. We could throw around facts now, but there is not enough space for that. Just two short, meaningful pieces of information:
1. Angkor Wat is one of the most important archaeological buildings in Southeast Asia.
And
2. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. ☝️
We quickly found a spot by the lake in front of the temple, because all the Chinese tourists were already inside the temple for the sunrise. So there was room for the rest of us. 😂 Minute by minute it got brighter and slowly we could see more and more of the temple. It looked so small from the outside - but inside it suddenly felt huge and we spent half the morning there. Then we went to the next temple - ANGKOR THOM. Less famous, but no less worth seeing. With the Bayon, Srah Srang and Ta Prohm temples, the little tour was complete. *Tomb Raider*(2003) starring Angelina Joley was shot in the latter🎥.
After a long day, we arrived back at the hotel and enjoyed some sun by the pool.
Our 4th load of laundry is also done. And it smells so good...
After successful video calls with home, it's time to go to bed...
