Rio, you are so wonderful...

Nai-publish: 16.12.2017

One week in Rio and I was truly sad to say goodbye to Brazil's capital. It's hard to describe what makes the city so fascinating. Maybe it's the combination of hills, mountains, and forests, maybe it's the sea and the numerous beaches, maybe it's the joy of the residents - probably all of it together.

Sipping a cold coconut on the beach of Copacabana while observing the surroundings gives an incredible feeling. Numerous joggers, women in their "half" bikinis sunbathing, and the many boys playing soccer - everywhere there is sport, laughter, and life.

The atmosphere in the city is incredible. Christ the Redeemer can be seen from everywhere, as he sits on the Corcovado mountain with his arms spread protectively over the city.

Naturally, we had to personally visit the Lord as well. We didn't miss other tourist attractions such as Sugarloaf Mountain, the "Escadaria Selarón" stairs, and the "Arcos da Lapa" viaduct. The view of the city, no matter from which hill, was breathtaking. I have rarely seen such a diverse city.

We diligently explored the city center on foot, with its many museums, churches, squares, and monuments. We also marched through the neighborhood of Santa Theresa and Lapa. The parks "Parque Lage" and "Jardim Botânico" offered a natural idyll amidst the metropolis.

"Rio has the best nightlife", many travelers we met before told us. And now we can confirm it: it's true! Samba, Salsa, Funk, Rock, and Pop fill the clubs every day of the week.

On our last day in Rio, a street festival took place on Ipanema Beach. Small stages were set up along the entire promenade. The beach was full of people and loud music. In the end, we even received two festival cups as a gift, which we will proudly carry as souvenirs throughout South America.

For me, Rio is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen so far, probably the most impressive. One day, I want to come back to Rio, but this time for Carnival.
