We were a bit apprehensive about today's flight: we had to wake up at 3:30 a.m. to be at Beijing airport on time. We were heading further south in China, to Yunnan province. The flight takes about 4 hours, across China. First, a brief note about the flight: all fears about flights in China were unfounded. Plenty of space, calm fellow passengers, food and drinks were served - we had heard about other conditions. After a pleasant, albeit a bit bumpy, flight, we arrived in Dali. The difference with Beijing could not be greater: everything is much more leisurely here. Dali is quite touristy, but the target group is not Western tourists, but young Chinese. The old town has been wonderfully renovated - there is not much to do, though. So we strolled through the narrow streets all day and visited a few sights here and there (for example, the Catholic Church in Dali). The smells wafting from the street kitchens and houses are floral and spicy, which also captures the cuisine of Dali well. Many dishes are prepared with flowers. The food is simply delicious! Tomorrow we are looking forward to a similarly relaxed day, where we can just relax and indulge in the scents of Dali.
