Before the end of April, we spent three great days in Grampians National Park with Emma and Brian. We rented a house that looked out onto a large field where at least 50 kangaroos were frolicking most of the time. An emu also strolled back and forth, and birds joined us as well. So the location couldn't be beat. In the evening, a fireplace in the living room invited us to linger. However, since we didn't have a lighter, we had to improvise. A toaster, a tissue, and some cardboard and we were nicely warmed up.
We visited various lookout points and two waterfalls, which turned out to be quite comfortable except for one. We lacked the motivation and fitness for long hikes, and Mathias only had his good Sunday clothes with him. Before we left the national park on the last day, we played a round of adventure golf, which is mini golf, but not comparable to our standardized courses. Accordingly, we were not very good. It was still a lot of fun, except for the annoying children behind us. On the way back, we made a stop at the 'giant Koala', one of the big things in Australia.
It was great to get out of the city again for a while, and the wonderful nature was a great taste of our road trip through Australia.
