Today there is another highlight for us - we are going to Cuc Phuong National Park and doing a little hiking there. It's cloudy and the humidity is 96%! If you stand outside you are wet even though it is not raining.
In the national park we first visit a monkey station run by a German woman. It is a rescue center for many baby monkeys where the mother was shot, many sick or injured monkeys or former pet monkeys.
There is also a turtle farm. Here we learn that Vietnam has the largest turtle smuggling route.
We then drive another 18km into the park and then our hike through the jungle begins (around 7km). Lots of uphill and downhill, lots of great trees and plants. We hear lots of birds and monkeys, but don't see any. There is also a huge 1000-year-old tree on our way. And a cave that you can explore alone - it goes about 150 m deep into the cave with cell phone light, there is also a bit of climbing and scrambling through - that would never be allowed here.
We both had a massage at the hotel and the rest of the evening was relaxed.
