The scatterbrained Monday...

Nai-publish: 06.08.2018

The planned city walk this morning literally fell into the water. We wanted to visit a museum instead. All Russian museums are closed on Mondays. We knew it, but still tried it and stood in front of a closed door. It was only then that it dawned on us...

A good alternative emerged, the sun was shining and we made our way to the Summer Garden. During our walk, we passed the Mikhailovsky Church. Along the Fontanka Canal, where hundreds of excursion boats were buzzing around, we reached the Summer Garden. A beautiful and well-kept park. Under a green leafy canopy and past countless sculptures by Italian artists that Peter the Great had erected, we strolled through the soothing peace. 200 sculptures conveyed to the Russian nobility of the time the European culture and the history of antiquity. Many beautiful fountains adorn the park. Benches and small enchanted corners invite you to take a break. The Summer Palace tells the story of bold campaigns and glorious victories. After a nice walk through the park, we also felt like taking a break by a beautiful fountain.

Back in the city, we treated ourselves to a delicious lunch and returned to the park in front of the Mikhailovsky Palace. Peace, sun, and our books were a pure treat for this moment.

On our way home, we stopped at the art creators. A bar with 30 types of draft beer, mostly brewed in the region. A wonderful taste of beer and an artistically designed bar enchanted us.

A relaxed and not so eventful day that started with rain and ended with sunshine...

Tüdelüttüdelü from St. Petersburg, the program is over for today!
