Our big independent Kenya trip was supposed to start here at 9 a.m.
The start was delayed because our confiscated passports were not due to be returned to us until 9:30 a.m.
At around 9:45 a.m. someone brought the passports. A little shock: mine wasn't there. They quickly found my passport and brought it to me. I was finally able to leave the ship.
My travel companions were waiting outside. We got into the waiting minibus together and drove off.
After a drive of about an hour, we reached our destination for the day, the luxurious "Savoy Seychelles Resort & Spa". Coffee and tea were available in a luxuriously furnished room, and we were also given iced tea and wet towels to refresh ourselves. There was also printed information and a map of the area.
Our rooms weren't ready yet, so we decided to spend the waiting time at the beach bar. We were taken there in electric golf carts.
We drank a lot of beer, got hungry and ordered lunch. I ordered octopus with cinnamon rice from the "Creole cuisine" section, which was very tasty. For me, trying local dishes is just part of traveling.
Eventually we were told our rooms were ready. We were given our key cards and taken to our rooms.
Unlike my traveling companions, I had not gotten my suitcase back. So I went to reception to sort things out. Luckily, my luggage was immediately located in a storage room and brought to my room with me.
I unpacked my swimming trunks and spent some time in the resort's large and beautifully designed swimming pool, being very careful not to get sunburned.
Afterwards I took a shower in my bathroom and then lay down. I skipped dinner.
