Dubai - cool, modern, different 🏙️

Nai-publish: 27.12.2018

Sunset 🧡

Dubai is as glamorous as you imagine. Modern skyscrapers reach for the sky, you see sports cars everywhere (and what cars they are!) and people are super relaxed.

Of course, you still have to follow certain rules. For example, it's better to exchange affectionate gestures in the hotel, even though some tourists tend to forget that. The beach is always bustling, and the city is even more so. Dubai just has a special charm.

Promenade

Simply strolling around is entertainment enough - apart from the many sights and activities that this city has to offer. In the background, you can see the fabulous skyline.

Burj al Arab

The Burj Al Arab (on the left) is known as one of the landmarks of Dubai. It is a sinfully expensive hotel. Theoretically, you can enter it and have a coffee on the first or second floor for a certain price (can't remember exactly). But we decided to admire the building from the outside. I would love to tell you how much we would have had to pay, but unfortunately, I only remember that it was not worth the money for us.

It was different with the Burj Khalifa - the tallest building in the world! You have to go in there. You can't miss this view. If you haven't been up there, you haven't really been to Dubai.

The entrance fee is affordable and the waiting time is also reasonable. However, you should inquire in advance about the peak times. The most extreme and also the most expensive is in the evening when people want to watch the water fountains from above. We decided against it because the water fountains were beautiful to watch from below as well. And if you really want to enjoy the view, it's best when it's a bit less crowded.

The skyline of Dubai will captivate you, no doubt about it!

Camel milk ice cream

However, Dubai is not only about magnificent buildings - the old town is also worth a visit. The best way to reach it is by water taxi. It costs less than a Euro, if I remember correctly, and it's also a cool experience.

Unfortunately, for some reason, we hardly took any pictures of the old town. That annoys me a bit in hindsight because there was so much to see. I especially liked the Gold Souk. The whole street was sparkling and glittering! You didn't know where to look first.

We also bought souvenirs here: camel milk chocolate. You can also find it in the malls, but it's cheaper in the old town. By the way, it tastes great!

Then I also had the urge to try camel milk ice cream (see photo above). It was quite expensive at around 2.50 euros per scoop, but hey, you're in Dubai 🤷🏼‍♀️

Taste-wise, it wasn't anything special. But it was still cool in a way.

Alright, and because the post is getting quite long again, let's cut it here. In the next post, we'll talk about our desert tour, the mall, and the famous Atlantis the Palm hotel! 😊
