Valparaiso Day 2

Nai-publish: 31.01.2020

After arriving at the customs port around half past ten this morning, we found out that both containers have already been unloaded without our presence. Thank God nothing was damaged. The customs officers inspected our bikes closely and compared the VIN numbers and the contents of the suitcases on the bikes. Unfortunately, one motorcycle couldn't be released because the owner is not on site and will only arrive in Santiago on Saturday evening. However, now we had to put the tires on the vans and attach the side mirrors, as they were in the container with old rims without tires and with detached side mirrors, otherwise they wouldn't fit. Since the customs officers also had some difficulties with the clearance process, we finally arrived back at our accommodation around 6:30 pm. The whole operation took about 7 hours. After that, we deserved a cold beer, which could be bought in a shop protected by a grid, and the beer was handed to us through a corresponding opening in the grid. In Chile, you need a license to sell alcohol and therefore you have to protect yourself accordingly.
