Day 3 Journey to the Dingle Peninsula

Nai-publish: 01.06.2017

Today, the second stage of my journey began. At 09:00, my train departed for Tralee in southwest Ireland. I had to change trains in Mallow. From Tralee, I took the bus (Line 275) to Camp. Everything went well, almost too well. Eventually, something had to go wrong. At the bus stop, I took out the directions I had translated to my first B & B and set off. Somehow, I misunderstood the distance instructions. After walking 3 kilometers uphill with all my luggage and not seeing a house anywhere, I started to get nervous. I asked a truck driver who was changing a tire for directions. He sent me back the whole 3 kilometers. Once back at the starting point, I was able to orient myself and continue. After about 1 kilometer, doubts started to arise again, and it must have been written all over my face. An older lady stopped her car and asked if she could help. After some back and forth, she offered to drive me to my accommodation. I graciously accepted. So I finally arrived at my destination. My hostess then recommended 'The Junction Bar' for dinner. It was a really good recommendation. The half hour walk there and back (I found it without getting lost) was worth it. The food was really good (so was the beer). Tomorrow, I will start my first hiking stage. I am excited.
