Morning and lunch in Nazca

Nai-publish: 08.02.2024

I woke up twice that night because of the heat, but then went back to sleep. At half past seven I really woke up and went straight up to the roof terrace for breakfast for €3. It was delicious and it was worth it just for the 3 coffees. I received the message by email that the tour was canceled at 11. A bit stupid, because then I would have booked the other tour, which is at 3 p.m., earlier, but you can't change that now. I went around the block and picked up dog food and fed it to a few dogs. I have to say that there are already many dogs and cats living on the streets in Peru. The locals usually treat them very lovingly and none of them were really emaciated. I took another shower at the hotel and then checked out. Then I go out and even though rain is forecast, the heat outside is overwhelming. I went to the center, got something to drink and then decided to get a SIM card. I got the tip from a fellow traveler to buy from Bitel. You could also buy SIM cards at the tourist information center, but €30 for a week or €50 for a month was too expensive for me. Here I pay 40 soles (approx. 10€) for a month with 30GB. That's completely OK and so I have internet on the bus and elsewhere. For example, tomorrow I have to write from my accommodation while I'm on the road telling me when I'll be arriving and that would have become a bit complicated. Unfortunately, I was in the store for what felt like two hours because the people who work there have no idea. She took a photo of my passport at least 10 times and constantly said there was a problem in the system. I really thought about just leaving again, but I thought, no, I'll go through with it now. Before that I was in three other stores and they always said that only locals could get a sim like that. Anyway, it worked out in the end and I now have internet on the go. And the good thing is that WhatsApp and everything stays the same. I took out my SIM from Germany. Theoretically, I can put both SIM cards in my cell phone, but I'm afraid that the mobile data from my SIM from Germany will then be used. So I'm on the safe side. Afterwards I walked through the city. It's a relatively manageable place. I then got a drink and an Oreo pudding and ate it in the park. Then another round of juggling. Then I passed a public sports field where I tried pull-ups and managed two of them at once. Then I went back to the hotel and hopefully I'll be picked up from here for the tour. I've already arranged accommodation for the next place in Puno. And in Arequipa also the 2-day hike, which is supposed to be challenging. I am excited...
