Let's start with the weather again. Today it's pure summer, sun from start to finish, but not too warm with a maximum of 23°C. It can stay like this (but it probably won't).
I was actually looking forward to riding over the Fehmarnsund Bridge today. I did this on my very first big bike tour 51 years ago, believe it or not, on a 28-inch touring bike without gears and a front-wheel piston brake, nothing compared to today. But this morning we found out from our hotel owner that the bridge was closed to bikes and that a free bus shuttle had been set up. I had read that somewhere before, but thought it was history. Bad luck. We had to hurry a bit to catch the 9 a.m. bus, otherwise we would have had to wait an hour and a half. Although the stop was poorly signposted or not signposted at all, we made it in time. When we arrived on Fehmarn, we had to make the next decision: turn left or turn right. We decided to turn left, which meant that we had a massive headwind on the most beautiful part of the north side. Unfortunately, it had turned east. As we changed direction, first to the south and then to the west, things got much better. We then took the shuttle bus back and it was only 3 km to our accommodation. In total, we covered over 80 km again that day.
