In less than 3 weeks we will start our adventure 'sabbatical'. We are taking a break from our jobs and just trying to go with the flow.
Where could this be better than in a country with a tropical climate and beautiful landscapes?
Costa Rica is nestled between two oceans. The Pacific and the Atlantic are only 320km apart. With some luck, you can see both oceans from the 'Chirripó' (3820m) at the same time. There's a lot to discover here for travelers: rainforests, cloud forests, rivers, mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, but also sun, beach and sea. In addition, Costa Rica is one of the 20 countries in the world with the greatest diversity of species.
After deciding to start our journey in Costa Rica, we had a painstaking research to do:
Is Costa Rica a risk area?
What entry regulations do we have to follow?
What equipment do we need?
What insurances do we need to take out in addition to the usual health insurance in the current situation?
What vaccinations do we need for a trip to Central America?
What places do we want to see at the beginning of the trip?
... and and and ...
Finally - it seems to be really set now!
We seem to be able to meet all entry rules. We have also finally booked our flights. It's starting on April 1, 2021 - currently it still feels like an April fool's joke. But it will probably become more real the more you organize, research and report about it.
We're really excited!
