Today is finally the day of our return, we are really going home...! But before that, we will have a delicious breakfast and say goodbye to our dear Jenny around noon and start the last stage, only 6 km...! It is the shortest stage of our journey, but also the most difficult...mmmhhhh...no one says anything while we approach the end of our mission, kilometer by kilometer!
We arrive at the farm, no one is in sight, we don't dare to get out...!
We enter our apartment and everything is familiar yet strange and too big! We have lived the last year on four square meters with minimal furnishings...what are we going to do with the remaining 140 square meters??? I open the kitchen drawers and wonder about all the stuff inside...we only needed a few plates, glasses, cutting boards and some cutleries the last time!
We decide to go to the garden first, somehow unpacking doesn't appeal to us...! Here we are intercepted by the whole Börter family and warmly hugged and greeted, that made us very happy! So we have a coffee with everyone and chat a bit! Then we take a walk through the garden and around the farm, everything is just as usual here!
We take some things out of the bus, check the mail and then we don't really know what to do with ourselves. In the evening, we have a farewell beer together in our kitchen to celebrate our MissionEurope and talk for a long time about what we have experienced and what we definitely want to change in our lives! The closer we have come to home and the more days we have been back home (exactly one week today), the more we realize what this journey has done to us!
Even during the trip, we sometimes wondered when to expand our horizons and what this break does to you, but during the journey we experienced so many impressions that we didn't really think about it. Only absolute freedom mattered, to do whatever you want...an invaluable experience. But since we have been back home and haven't really acclimatized yet, we increasingly understand the meaning of this trip!
We have changed and we are no longer the two who set off six months ago! And that's damn good...! We so much hope that the rat race hasn't caught up with us again in three weeks and that we are back to the usual everyday life...! It's up to us! We just have to keep reminding ourselves of what we have experienced and what it has done to us...!
Our Quintessence:
We have been on the road for six months and ten days!
We have covered about 18,044 km!
The bus needed 25 refuelings!
We have visited 10 countries!
Our Sprinter is a faithful soul and will definitely remain in our possession!
We didn't miss anything at all!
We have seen fantastic landscapes and met great people!
Elks, reindeers, dolphins, flamingos, parrots, kingfishers, otters and much more!
Weather is just weather!
The wanderlust is greater than ever!
We own way too much junk in our lives!
Less is definitely more!
Leisure time is priceless!
Don't continue where you left off half a year ago!
Do the same again as soon as possible!
...and we have the best friends and families one can imagine! A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the unforgettable surprise welcome back party! You are the best. And Dad, thank you for taking care of the apartment, checking the mail, fixing the water damage, cleaning the windows, cleaning the whole apartment (it has never been this clean here) and decorating our kitchen for the welcome!
That's it for our MissionEurope, an unforgettable and priceless experience. How lucky we were to experience this!
In this sense...hopefully until next time!
