After thorough research and about 50 scary hostel reviews, Sarah and I decided to discard the original plan and not go to the party island of Koh Phi Phi.
So we boarded a boat that was supposed to fit 8 people and ended up cruising over the sea with 15 people, 15 large suitcases, and 6 life jackets. We were almost at chest height with the water level and just a few centimeters below the edge of the boat! And when we got caught in a rainstorm, we started feeling quite uneasy. But we managed to survive the whole ordeal soaking wet and were then taken to Koh Lanta in a fairly packed mini-van.
The hostel where we stayed here was a dream: clean, quiet, with free breakfast, great staff, and constantly offering some kind of deals. The island is big, peaceful, and has wonderful beaches, an 'old town', and a national park. There's plenty to do but also plenty to enjoy! Definitely worth another visit!😊
