I've been here for 3 weeks now and I've settled in really well. The family is great and opens up so many opportunities for me! A lot has changed in my everyday life in the past two weeks: during the week, I only spend 2 days with the children, and for the other 3 days, a social worker takes care of them. On these days, I can go to the workshop where special clothing for autistic people, people with post-traumatic stress disorders, ADHD, and anxiety disorders is produced. This clothing is unique due to the materials used, the tight fit, and the seams on the outside, and the business is booming. Last weekend, I even got my first modeling skills as I stood in front of the camera as a model for the new collection. That was fun. Sometimes, I also work in the office. This week, we were busy selecting the best photos for the website and preparing them. I'm really happy with my work here and I love the diversity!
Last weekend, we were invited for lunch at friends' farm on Sunday. The area was beautiful and the view from the farmhouse was breathtaking as it is located on a hill and offers a great 360-degree view. In the afternoon, we saw two kangaroos hopping along the driveway. My first ones in the wild. This weekend is also a long weekend here. Yesterday was the first beach day of the year and the weather was great. We went to the beach, which is a 10-minute drive away, with the boys. Without much hesitation, I ventured into the waves and it was super pleasant! I can't wait for more beach days!
Australians have a very pleasant and slightly funny accent, I think! I especially like the abbreviations and word creations: a cooler box is called an esky, a cup of tea is a cuppa, a postie is the mailman, arvo means afternoon, servo is the gas station, and barbie is the abbreviation for barbecue, which we do at least once a week here.
Best regards to all of you!
