The climb up here is worth it even in less than perfect weather - it occasionally drizzles, but remains very pleasant!
On foot, you can see much more and Rio offers many charming viewpoints with its hills and mountains. Rio reminds me of Lisbon, with its allure of decay and a visible reminder of its glorious past. This is especially evident in the architecture of the late 19th century, characterized by many ornaments and stylistic elements. It must be difficult to preserve all of this. The construction frenzy in the favelas, on the other hand, seems unbroken and for the sake of simplicity, they skip the plaster. Thus, the reddish hue of brick walls shapes the appearance from a distance - not entirely unattractive - as if the buildings were part of the landscape. In a tropical climate, this area would actually be a jungle, and one can see plants and trees reclaiming the built space here and there.
